Luncheon 2002
Luncheon follow-up
The Hecklers would like to
thank everyone for their participation in the Inaugural First Pitch
Luncheon. We brought in approximately $13,000 and after expenses we will
purchase the baseball Throwback Day uniforms, lineup boards for The Law and The
Rock, and the purchase of sound system updates for The Law. Coach Knight's help
in securing silent auction items was over the top, as far as we're concerned.
The Hecklers all pitched in from our personal accounts and presented a check for
$500 to Coach Knight's Library Fund. We felt that as a group comprised of alums
and current undergrad, Master's and Doctoral students, the library is something
special to all of us. Our small gift is the least we can do to say
thanks.
The Texas Rangers
representatives were wonderful and we thank them as well. We enjoyed our time
with Tom Grieve, not only at the Luncheon but also at supper Thursday night and
with Jack Dale on Friday morning's Jack Dale Sportsline radio show. He is a
great ambassador for the Rangers. Pitcher Doug Davis and coach Oscar Acosta were
wonderful as well. Also, thanks to Michael Byrnes for all he did in promoting
the Big XII Tournament at the Ballpark in Arlington in May. We're sure Tech will
have a great contingent there.
We will do another
"First Pitch" event in 2003. We haven't set the date yet but when we
do, you can find all the relevant info right here.
