Super Collegiate Power Poll

The Super Collegiate Power Poll was a poll we created to make a point that college baseball polls, more than any other sport's polls, are a pretty random lot. The poll ran in 2000 and a handful of newspapers use it, which serves to show just how confusing college baseball polls really are. Because there are so many polls and since  majority of newspaper sports staffs don't follow college baseball closely, they are as baffled by it as everybody else. Thus, they picked a up a poll with a legitimate-sounding name and ran the rankings, while we snickered in the background. For the record, we took our voting seriously and our rankings were fairly consistent with the other polls.

If you want to read more about the college baseball polls, click here to read an article that ran in several newspapers around the country. (This is an abbreviated of the original article that ran in a South Carolina newspaper in 2000, but you get the picture.)
